While nearly all are familiar with the fact that every month has a specific birth-stone, even a specific flower - rarely has a calendar or conceptual idea afforded those of us more 'nautically inclined' with a suitable option.
Thus, after much thought, research, consideration, more research, testing, and compilation, I have compiled The Official Birth-Shell Calendar for your benefit!
"In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was without form or shape as darkness covered the abyss and a mighty wind swept over the waters..." (Genesis 1:1-2).
The sea, the oceans, have been existent eternally with God. Before He spoke all things, including humanity, into existence, there was the sea. Later, when He created land, the sea was separated into various oceans. The only facet of creation present with the Triune God since before there was a beginning was the sea.
Thus, the sea has this "Divine nature"; this "Divine draw" to it; a blessing upon its shores and a means of nurturing the soul within us all that constantly craves connection with our Creator.
"Then God said: Let the water teem with an abundance of living creatures... God created the great sea monsters and all kinds of crawling living creatures with which the water teems... God saw that it was good, and God blessed them, saying: Be fertile, multiply, and fill the water of the seas..." (Genesis 1:20-22).
To protect themselves, those water-dwelling creatures dwell within seashells for a time, then either moving to a more suitable habitat or by natural processes, they give up their shells. What they leave behind is more than a home -- it is a gift to us. Shells are a reminder of life as they sheltered living and created water-dwellers.
They remind us of the God who spoke into existence all things, finding each of them good... until finally, He created you and I (humanity) and he found us VERY good.
We are the central-point and masterpieces of God's entire creation, but we must never hesitate to remember, before even time began, the waters (the sea) was present with God...
Look to the sea, the shore, the sand, and marvel at the wonders of God's handiwork on display. Locate your birth-shell, along with it's spiritual and symbolic meaning to naturally deepen your soul's constant craving for connection with our Loving Creator!
Faithfully, a child of God and a son of the sea,
Anthony Maranise
